SPRING 2021 ONE ROOM CHALLENGE KICKOFF

Call me crazy but I decided at the last minute to go ahead and jump into the ONE ROOM CHALLENGE as a Guest Participant! Last season, I had the honor of being one of the Featured Designers and was able to tackle my Primary Bedroom Suite. This time, I decided that I'm going to work on a new client project for this one. It's a fun project and I "think" I can pull it off in this timeline!

VINTAGE AIRSTREAM ARGOSY

You may be thinking, "that doesn't look like an Airstream!". I'll give you a brief history on the painted Airstream. Argosy trailers have the same iconic shape as the Airstreams that you are used to seeing except that these are painted on the exterior!

I recently remodeled an Airstream for this same client, that got a lot of attention! If you're new around here and didn't get a chance to see that project, you'll find it under "Project Reveals" on my website.

Once I finished remodeling the interior, we sent it out to get the exterior updated as well which entails removing the clear coat (which looks like brushed aluminum) and had it mirror finished...look at the difference! I'm obsessed!

The reason that I'm sharing all this is because, while this one was getting a shiny new finish, the owner of the polishing company, showed my client a photo of the vintage Argosy that we will be remodeling for this challenge. We totally fell in love with it....especially when we thought about all of it's potential!

THE DATED & DIRTY INTERIOR

When I say "potential" it's nothing but potential at this point! Are you ready for an "As Is" tour of the interior? It's definitely seen better days but have faith....we have plans!

THE CRANE SAGA

The biggest challenge (so far) has been a) figuring out how we were going to get it to the project location (from 2 hours away) and b) once we got it the house, then we had to figure out how we were going to get it into the backyard! There is only a small walk through gate.

After much pondering, there was really only one solution. We would have to bring in a crane! We worked with a great company called, Bob's Crane Service, here in San Diego. They were so professional and made the process really smooth for us.

THE EAGLE HAS LANDED

Needless to say, it was an exciting spectacle for all of the neighbors! Now that she's in place, we're excited to get started on the new design! Next week, I'll share the design concept with you and how we plan to it all done within the ONE ROOM CHALLENGE timeline! Wish me luck, I'm going to need it!

ABOUT THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

The One Room Challenge®, currently in its twentieth season, is a widely anticipated biannual event every spring and fall. Each round, twenty design influencers are selected to take the challenge, as Featured Designers, and transform a space. Every Wednesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over six (8 during Covid) weekly posts.

In addition to following along, everyone with a blog or Instagram account, is welcome to join the fun as a Guest Participant by linking their own room transformations each week during the event. Each Thursday, the internet and social media are flooded with interior design inspiration, ideas, and encouragement.

To date, more than 5,400 rooms have been transformed through the One Room Challenge®. The event, and many of the spaces, have been recognized and featured.

So fun, I've always wanted to do a trailer makeover. Can't wait to see what you do with this guy.
