There are cool playrooms, then there's this Pac Man inspired playroom! My client, a single dad with two young children wanted to create an epic space where the kids could game and watch movies.
When my client purchased this house, this room had been set up as a formal music room. It was beautiful but we needed to make this space work for my client and his young family.
INSPIRATION: PENNY ARCADES + CANDY STORES
My favorite part of ANY project is when I get to go into ideation mode. I really wanted to nail this for my client so I started to go back into my memory bank and remembered things from my youth like old fashioned ice cream parlors, candy stores, penny arcades and of course because I'm an 80's girl, Pac Man was all the rage!
PAC MAN FEVER
The funnest part for me was the custom designed the Pac Man wallpaper I had designed for the space. Talk about a statement! The little Pac Men also remind me a of Jujubes, amiright?
We mounted a large TV and added a pair of modern blue leather swivel chairs for some epic Fortnight battles or to chill out and watch a movie. The piƩce de resistance is the vintage Game Wizard arcade game pre-programmed with 150 different games!
PENNY ARCADE VIBES
I wanted to bring in a little of that penny arcade vibe so I started by customizing the window panes of the French doors with a monogrammed "M", the first letter of my clients last name. The design was inspired by a vintage penny arcade.
HAPPY FEET
Vibrant color brings energy to this space! I anchored the room with the softest area rug you will ever landed your feet on because we all know, that's really where the kids will be spending their time.
Okay, so who wants to be adopted by this dad? Me!
