Come with me under the sea for this fun powder room project reveal!
THE BLUE BATHROOM INSPIRATION
This home is located in one of the oldest and most prestigious neighborhoods in La Jolla called Muirlands. This neighborhood is named after the famous naturalist, John Muir, and has amazing views of the Pacific Ocean.
My client, loves all things ocean related and is even a Master Scuba Diver. Together, we decided that we wanted to make a BIG statement in this TINY powder room. We were inspired by one of the most fascinating (and unique-looking) creatures of the sea....the jellyfish! We get them here when the water warms up which is not always great but you have to admit, they're fascinating to watch!
MODERN MONOCHROMATIC MAKEOVER
If you want to make a big statement in a small bathroom, stick with a monochromatic palette. The inky blue jellyfish wallpaper used in this La Jolla beach house is equal parts moody and magnificent.
URCHIN LIGHT FIXTURE
Inspired by marine life, the hand-worked iron quills in this urchin light fixture creates a stunning and sculptural statement.
WONDROUS WALLPAPER
A whimsical wallpaper can make a huge statement in a small space. We wallpapered all four walls in this amazing wallpaper to create drama and impact when you enter this space.
OCEANIC OASIS
For the wall art, we added an abstract painting of a bait ball. What's a bait ball?
A bait ball is when small fish that travel in schools, such as sardines, swim tightly in a ball-shaped formation to protect themselves against predators when they feel threatened.
BLUE TILE FLOORING
So many favorite features in this space but this blue tile with bronze metallic running through it, brings in a touch of modern industrialism.
