OUT & ABOUT: PALM SPRINGS BOUND

I don't know about y'all but it definitely is beginning to feel like Spring has sprung and there is change in the air. During this pandemic, our family has been one of the more conservative ones when it comes to venturing out, masking and social distancing. We also have a bad case of cabin fever....especially me since my business is home based! We decided that we need to get out into the world again so we planned a trip to Palm Springs, which is just a few hours drive from San Diego.

INSPIRATION EVERYWHERE

It's true that inspiration can come from anywhere. This road trip was exactly what I needed and this trip fueled my creativity way more that I had anticipated!

THE ARCHITECTURE

If you've never been to Palm Springs, it's a vibe! And a super swanky vibe at that! It's like stepping back into the Hollywood hey day of Frank Sinatra and The Rat Pack! My favorite area is Old Las Palmas right off of N. Palm Canyon Drive. It's where you will find the chic homes where all of the Hollywood stars played! The homes range from 1920's Spanish Colonials to Mid Century Modern gems all set against the backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains. You'll also find the House of Tomorrow aka: Elvis' Honeymoon Hideout.

THE SHOPPING

Downtown Palm Springs is gorgeous! Beautiful palm lined streets and lots of galleries, restaurants and boutiques. A couple of my faves are Christopher Kennedy for home decor and Trina Turk for clothing! IN FACT....If "I" were a store, I would definitely be the Trina Turk store! The caftans and tunics are absolute eye candy and the boutique itself was designed by Kelly Wearstler and is so glam!

THE LANDSCAPE

Besides swimming at the hotel, we went for an awesome hike which enabled us to see a gorgeous view of Palm Springs! We also visited the Moorten Botanical Garden, a family-owned garden that dates back to the 1930's and is pack with a variety of cacti and other indigenous desert plants.

FAMILY TIME

This was a family trip and also happened to be over Valentine's Day weekend! There was something for all of us to enjoy...even our 10 year old had a blast!

I came home so inspired by the architecture, the fashion, the desert colors and the whole vibe in general! This is definitely going to be a place that we visit regularly! Let me know if you've every been to Palm Springs. What's your favorite spot?
