ONE ROOM CHALLENGE - WEEK 5

Welcome to Week 5 of the One Room Challenge!

We had a lot happen this week, it's just not the 'prettiest' stuff.....yet!

- We had to reposition it from where it was craned in.

- We had the walls patched and riveted.

- We scrubbed and prepped the entire interior to prepare for interior decorative painting.

- We installed the hardiebacker in preparation for our new flooring.

- Decorative painting begins this week on the interior AND exterior and I cannot wait to share that with you in next weeks update!

- Our Electrician is coming to install new lighting and check the electrical.

RIVETING!

We had A LOT of repair work to do on the interior of the Airstream Argosy after last weeks demo! We ordered metal sheets that needed to be cut to size then riveted into place. This takes a special skillset and a special tool. Riveting two objects together – usually two metal objects – is a simple way to create an almost permanent attachment. That's why you see rivets in aircrafts and Airstreams! That's also where the term, "He/She is riveting!", comes from since you can tear your attention away.

Every Airstream Travel Trailer has an average of 3,000 rivets in the walls, trim, and even some of the interior fixtures.
Rosie the Riveter was a popular, cultural icon of World War II. When millions of men went off to fight, factories began employing women to help with the war effort. Rosie the Riveter became a symbol of feminism, as more and more women worked to construct military equipment and aircraft.

THE MOROCCAN INSPIRED LIGHTING

We received some of our punched metal lighting this week. I cannot wait to see the shadows that it casts when it's on!

TILE FLOORING

We received a pallet of our Burning Wood tile flooring for the Airstream Argosy from a new company I started working with called Decovita. I cannot wait to see it installed! Don't these look like the real deal?! Nope, it's not wood, it's porcelain. I'm super excited about this one!

REPOSITIONING THE AIRSTREAM ARGOSY

When the crane put the Airstream in the back, it wasn't exactly where we wanted it to be so we had to reposition it. Easy peasy with the right tools and 4 men! Luckily they're good sports!

That's a wrap on Week 5! Nothing but the PRETTY from here to the finish line!

ABOUT THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

The One Room Challenge®, currently in its twentieth season, is a widely anticipated biannual event every spring and fall. Each round, twenty design influencers are selected to take the challenge, as Featured Designers, and transform a space. Every Wednesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over six (8 during Covid) weekly posts.

In addition to following along, everyone with a blog or Instagram account, is welcome to join the fun as a Guest Participant by linking their own room transformations each week during the event. Each Thursday, the internet and social media are flooded with interior design inspiration, ideas, and encouragement.

To date, more than 5,400 rooms have been transformed through the One Room Challenge®. The event, and many of the spaces, have been recognized and featured.
