ONE ROOM CHALLENGE - WEEK 5

Hello my friends! It's hard to believe that another week in the One Room Challenge world has passed by and we are cruising along!

WHERE YOU SLEEP

Here's the latest y'all! This week, my furniture from Apt2b arrived and I am absolutely smitten! At the center of any well-designed bedroom is a beautiful bold statement headboard. That’s where the Apt2b Tatum Upholstered bed comes in. With its sleek plush velvet shelter headboard design this bed is luxurious and cozy! And even with the amazing feature wallpaper paper behind it, it holds it's own!

I also received my wall art from Minted.com (sneak peek above) - my Maximalist Dream In Color bedroom is coming together and I am loving it!

I also did a little bit of a switch-a-roo from my original concept. I was originally going to hang a pair of amber vintage globes above my new Apt2b Westmont Nightstands but I really love how my vintage green lamps look against the my new Milton & King Fantails wallpaper. That is one of my Top Tips...it's always a great idea to mix vintage and new items. It's really gives your space soul.

Can we just talk about the epic response to last weeks closet post? Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of the love you showered me with on the socials! I was overwhelmed with gratitude. My photographer, Deborah Shields Photography, brought her A-Game....I seriously died with excitement when she sent the closet photos over. If you didn't see that post, you can read it here.

DREAMY MATTRESS & SHEETS

Okay, a HUUUUUUGE shout out to Tuft & Needle for my new Cal King Mint mattress! It's all about staying for me when I sleep and this luxury foam mattress is soooo cool and comfortable. That's what they're all about - cool sleeping, reliable support, and elevated comfort. And if you have happen to have a partner that spins all night like a rotisserie chicken then choose the Mint mattress. I don't feel a thing!

Tuft & Needle also sent me a set of Percale Sheets and a duvet cover and oh my goodness does it feel like I'm sleeping in a luxury hotel bed.

SINGING THE BLUES

This week I did DIY project and repainted my vintage French Country Hendredon dresser Bohemian Blue and added new Schaub & Co acrylic and satin brass hardware. I used a DIY artisan clay & chalk finish furniture paint for this project. I was able to transform this furniture piece in a day right in my bedroom. No stripping, sanding, or priming which was perfect for me! I love the textured finish because it still feels vintage but the new hardware definitely modernizes it.

WINDOW COVERINGS

While we're on the subject of blues, I was super excited to get my new window treatments installed! Here's a sneak peek! Can we just talk about this velvet trim!?? To die for! I've been sharing all. of the behind the scenes on my Instagram Stories and y'all went ga-ga over it!

Let me introduce you to my Mama King - the Original DIY Gansta'! I roped her into helping me with this project! She helped me paint AND fabricated my curtain panels for me! She's seriously a beast on the sewing machine! I got my bold sense of color from her, when I was growing up we used to paint the walls of the house I grew up in Mallard Green, Sunflower Yellow, Burgundy Red, Mediterranean Blue. You name it and we've done it in her home! She thinks that the fabric has a stained glass quality to it when the sun is coming through it and she's right! It's sooooo good.

Later this week, I'm heading across the country to High Point Market in North Carolina on my first buying trip since the pandemic! I'm leaving an extensive "Honey Do List" for my husband to help me stay on track so that I can meet my Big Reveal photo shoot deadline in just a few short weeks! I still have quite a bit to do - the finishing details ALWAYS takes longer than you anticipate it will. I have a lot of lighting to install and the bathroom is going to be wallpapered THE DAY BEFORE the photo shoot! I know, good luck with that Rachel, right? Luckily, it's just a refresh - I couldn't make over the bedroom and closet without addressing the bathroom as well. So send me ALL the well wishes! Until next week my friends!

The One Room Challenge™, currently in its nineteenth season, is a widely anticipated biannual event every April and October. Each round, twenty design influencers are selected to take the challenge, as Featured Designers, and transform a space. Every week, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over eight weekly posts.
