EVERYTHING BEGINS WITH A PLAN
The design process can "seem" slow going at first but I would argue that this is where a lot of the heavy lifting happens.....in the brain and on the computer. Once you have a plan in place it's all about the implementation.....and problem solving. So here I'm going to share the whole plan with you. This vintage Airstream Argosy project is one piece of a very large puzzle! It's sort of the fun kickoff project to this phase of this beach house project.
EXTERIOR LANDSCAPE DESIGN PLAN
We have been working on my clients home for the past 5 months now and are ready to move forward with the whole exterior spaces of the home. I called in the big guns for this one! My fave Landscape Designer, Brooks Crawford of Brookside Design, to help us create the exterior landscape design plan.
As you saw last week, we had to have the Airstream air lifted into this tight little spot between a retaining wall and the house. If you missed that, you definitely need to go to the Week 1 post!
MOROCCAN LOUNGE VIBES
As we started planning the concept for this project, I got a vision of I Dream Of Jeannie sitting in her swanky mid century bottle. We continued to massage the concept and finally landed on a Colorful Moroccan Lounge. I am so excited to implement this one and see how it takes shape! I know from renovating an Airstream before that it's very different than working in a room. Everything is a little more challenging because of the scale and shape. I'm so up for this challenge though!
ALL THE COORDINATION
This week we are scheduling demo of the interior, ordering flooring, furniture, getting quotes to reupholster some bean bag loungers. I'm having an artist come in to do some decorative painting in the interior. To top it off, I leave for 5 days on a buying trip to High Point Market, the largest furniture trade show in the world, next week. My client has promised to document the progress and demo so that I can share it with you next week!
ABOUT THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE
The One Room Challenge®, currently in its twentieth season, is a widely anticipated biannual event every spring and fall. Each round, twenty design influencers are selected to take the challenge, as Featured Designers, and transform a space. Every Wednesday, the designers document their process while sharing their sources and professional advice over six (8 during Covid) weekly posts.
In addition to following along, everyone with a blog or Instagram account, is welcome to join the fun as a Guest Participant by linking their own room transformations each week during the event. Each Thursday, the internet and social media are flooded with interior design inspiration, ideas, and encouragement.
To date, more than 5,400 rooms have been transformed through the One Room Challenge®. The event, and many of the spaces, have been recognized and featured.
