How to GO RED With Your Home Decor

Since today is NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY I thought that it was only fitting that I share how to GO RED With Your Home Decor. Why is this such an important day to me? Grab a cup of coffee and read on friend....this one is a doozy!

How to GO RED With Your Home Decor

In March of 2000, when I was 30 years old and 6 months pregnant, I died. Honestly, I did. I had respiratory and cardiac arrest....I totally flatlined. I am so grateful that I happened to be on the cardiac floor of Sharp Memorial Hospital when it happened because I had been having "fainting episodes" and was there for observation. The "fainting episodes" I later found out was caused by my heart stopping! Eighteen years and two pacemakers later, I'm still here and that little baby that was in my belly at the time is nearly an adult! It is truly a miracle that we are still here to share this story. I feel blessed that I am able to live my dream of using my gifts and talents to make the world a more beautiful place one room at a time and also use my social media platform to raise awareness for a cause that is near and dear to my heart (pun intended).

GO RED With Your Home Decor - Tip 1

When it comes to red, a little goes a long way! It is a wonderful bold color and can really spice up a neutral space. A statement lighting piece, whether it is a ceramic table lamp or a lighting fixture is a bold way to add red into your home decor.

Textiles such as pillows, throws or a table runner is a great way to add red into your home in a totally non-committal way.

Accent pieces like this little metallic gold side table with a red top, a set of red stools or ottomans or even a red accent chair will add a little spark to any space.

GO RED With Your Home Decor - Tip 4

Since February is the month of love, I'm going to give you a little Feng Shui tip. In Feng Shui, the color red carries the energy of arousal and passion. If you're in need of a little more spice in your relationship, add a little touch of red to your nightstand. I suggest a small trinket tray or candle.

Caliente AF-290 is Benjamin Moore's 2018 Color of the Year. I think it's the perfect shade of red to use if you want to update a small vintage or existing piece of furniture in your home!

Why GO RED?

It's unbelievable, but heart disease kills approximately one woman every 80 seconds.

Wear RED

It's subliminal, but I use a lot of the color RED in the branding of my interior design firm. I put on RED lipstick every single day - it's my war paint to remind me that I am a survivor. On NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY, I invite you to wear red to show your support for women like me with a heart issue.
