THE ANTIDOTE TO FEAR OF DECORATING
1. Stop researching and asking everyone's opinion about how you should decorate your home......immediately. They don't live there and to be honest, they could really care less how you decorate it.
2. Breathe. Choosing the wrong paint color isn't going to kill you. It happens. It's just paint, you can always paint over it.
3. Hit your journal. Ask yourself how you want your home to feel. Don't focus on how it's going to look so much, how it feels is much more important. When you decorate your home from that head space, you really can't go wrong.
4. Go neutral with your major investment pieces. Listen, I'm known for my use of color and pattern but guess what? I always create a neutral palette to start off with. I layer on color with pillows, wall art and accessories.
5. Document the process. The transformation process is so gratifying. Do what the professionals do and document the process. Take photos of your space when you first start, take photos during the process. Then take your beautiful "After" photos. When your start to feel like you are stuck in the messy middle, go back to the "Before" photos to see how far you've come. It will give you the fuel you need to get to the finish line.
Don't let fear sit in the drivers seat, it's your home, your money, your life and you deserve to live beautifully.
