Yeah, that sounds awesome and all but…
Don’t worry, after a decade of redesigning homes, I’ve heard every excuse in the book. All somewhat legit but often untrue. Today, I'm crushing excuses.
Excuse #1: The Money.
I get it, I get it. Listen, my job is to create a design within your budget but you have to be transparent about what your real budget is. Please don’t fear that I’m going to spend every penny and then some. That would just be weird to be honest. I've got insider trade connections and can often save you from making costly mistakes. I do want to keep it real though, I can’t design on a dime. Decorating can be affordable but it’s not cheap.
Excuse #2: Insecurity.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you're insecure because I know for a fact that you're not. I don't attract clients that are insecure. Because you are rocking it so hard in every other area of your life there is something super vulnerable about asking for help in your home. Listen, we all have our strengths and weaknesses.
For example, I can't bake....at all.
Loving friend: "But, Rachel, you just add eggs and water and stick it in the oven."
Me: "Yeah, but when I do that, they come out all black on the bottom." Fact.
I’m coming to help you, not judge you and I mean that sincerely.
Excuse #3: The Overwhelm.
You went out and purchased the best furniture you could afford but your home still doesn’t feel pulled together. All of your friends are constantly scoring these awesome pieces for their pads at Home Goods but whenever you’ve braved it, you circle the store a couple of times and walk right out….empty handed….again.
Too noisy, too crowded and way too many choices.
Stop doing that. I got you.
Excuse #4: You’re a DIY’er.
So are many of my clients. That actually makes it a more fun and collaborative experience which I am all about! My E-Design package would probably be the best option for you, even if you’re local.
Decorating should be fun and if you like to DIY then by all means DIY sister! I'll map it out for you and you implement at your own pace.
Excuse #5: Worthiness.
I saved this one for last because this one is a biggie. There’s that little reel playing in your head saying, “Who do you think you are hiring a decorator?”. Ouch, I know. Bring it in close and listen carefully, you deserve to live in a home that you love…period. Redesigning your home is self care, just like massages, mani-pedi’s and yoga. How do I know? Because I’ve seen the transformation that takes place after I have redesigned a home (plus, my clients have told me so).
So, what’s your excuse?
