Whether you are celebrating Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving this week, it’s never too late to decorate!
Friends, I created 2 Harvest Décor Mood Boards to help you out!
One fromTarget and one from Walmart. Go out and shop with the confidence that you can pull your home together with one stop shopping....today!
Side Note: We all know that pretty much everything at Tar-Jay is on point but if you haven’t checked out The Pioneer Woman line at Walmart, you are missing out! Her flea market inspired line is absolutely adorable.
What the heck is Friendsgiving?
It is just like Thanksgiving, only it’s celebrated with friends, not family. This has become such a popular celebration for the following reasons:
Friendsgiving fills the void for people with family in far away places. You have family that you would love to spend Thanksgiving with but it just isn’t in the cards this year. Time off of work and an expensive flight home is just too much to pull off for one day.
Friendsgiving may not even involve a turkey! If you’re a plant eater, like me, staring down a 20 pound dead bird in the middle of the table may not be your cup of tea. Friendsgiving is a time to show off and share your favorite dish - it could be anything from seafood to pasta!
Friendsgiving is done potluck style so you don’t have that one person (mom) slaving in the kitchen from 6am in the morning until 6pm that evening. Everyone brings a dish, everyone pitches in and it’s all about good food, good company and good times.
Friendsgiving fills a void for people that would prefer to pass on the family gathering. Family gatherings can be really stressful. Uncle Bob won’t stop gushing about Donald Trump and what an awesome President he would be (huh?) and Aunt Mae’s going to badger you over the fact that you’re still not married. You get the picture.
Don’t get me wrong, family time for me IS wonderful and I am SO grateful that my family happens to BE my social circle but I also get that I might be in the minority. So this year, enjoy spending Thanksgiving your way – whether that be with your friends, family or a gathering of both!
This year we have a Thanksgiving Gratitude Tree.
On it, I wrote: "I am so grateful that I made the big leap into creative entrepreneurship this year and can work from home, volunteer at my daughter's school and really live out my dharma helping people live better lives in consciously designed spaces. I am grateful for every single one of my clients – they think I help them but it’s their stories that stay in my heart. I am grateful for my health, my family, my friends, for life."
