BEHIND THE DESIGN: CARIBBEAN BLUE BATHROOM MAKEOVER

BEFORE: FUNCTIONAL BUT BASIC

When my client moved into this home, the master bathroom had a serious case of the blahs. It wasn't terrible but it was pretty basic and my client is anything but basic. We needed to elevate, add color and uniqueness to this space so that it was a reflection of her and her aesthetic.

ABOUT THIS BATHROOM

My client adores the color blue and although the bathroom walls were previously painted blue, aesthetically, she just wasn't feeling it. This space needed more personality.

AFTER: BOLD AND BLUE

The star of the show is definitely the gorgeous blue Arabesque tile that we installed on the floor and the shower surround. We customized a console piece that we spotted at my local to-the-trade showroom and transformed it into a vanity. The piece is a beautiful grey cerused oak with bold statement hardware. I sourced a round handcrafted hammered metal sink that mirrors the shape of the hardware for the vanity top then updated the faucet with an elegant wall mounted vessel faucet.

Other designer details were added in the form of the jellyfish wall covering we added to the back of the built in shelves then styled them with items my client has collected from her global travels.

A TOUCH OF THE UNEXPECTED

One of my favorite items in this space is the large bold statement artwork painted by local San Diego abstract artist, Pnina Gold. We needed something that could hold it's own in this space in a sea of blue. This artwork was just what we needed.
