PROJECT REVEAL: THE JEWEL OF THE COAST, AN OCEAN-INSPIRED HOME BAR

Step into enthralling beauty as we invite you to witness the remarkable transformation of our latest interior design project in Point Loma. I am excited to share with you the journey of creating this functional home bar for my clients that are huge entertainers!

THE VISION

Since this home is located just blocks away from the Sunset Cliffs and the Pacific Ocean, our vision was driven by the allure of the ocean, its deep blue-green colors, and the captivating essence it embodies. To capture this spirit, we incorporated an exquisite color scheme complemented by carefully selected materials and surfaces that would transport one's senses to the calming touch of the coastal breeze.

TEXTURE & COLORS

The foundation of the bar comprises breathtaking green onyx and porcelain slabs, evoking the tranquility of pristine waters. To capture the essence of captivating seawaves, we adorned the walls with green-blue dimensional graphic tiles, stretching from the counter to the ceiling. This infusion of texture and color creates a truly immersive experience, dazzling the eyes as one savors their favorite libations.

ENTERTAINMENT

To bring entertainment to new heights, we added a television, seamlessly integrated into the design, allowing guests to enjoy their favorite sporting event while savoring the atmosphere of a high-end bar. The custom brass wine bottle holders add a refined touch to this space.

TOUCHES OF BRASS

Drawing inspiration from timeless elegance, we incorporated a brass hammered bar sink, serving not only as a functional requirement but also as an artistic centerpiece. The elegance of brass is further accentuated by the incorporation of brass cabinet handles, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the space.

AL FRESCO EXPERIENCE

One of the most remarkable features of this project lies in its seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor realms. We extended the bar's appeal beyond its walls by incorporating a window pass-through, allowing guests to enjoy the harmonious blend of indoors and outdoor while indulging in their favorite beverages. This creates a truly remarkable al fresco experience.

PLEASE BE SEATED

Comfort and style are seamlessly interwoven with the choice of substantial, black and brass leather barstools, beckoning guests to take a seat and unwind in utmost luxury. As an embodiment of sophistication, these stools effortlessly complement the dark, graphite-colored cabinets, adding depth and richness to the interior design.

STRENGTH & DURABILITY

At the very heart of this captivating space lies the bar itself, crafted from sturdy concrete, exuding a sense of strength and elegance. To enhance its visual appeal, we incorporated a brass rail, lending a touch of sophistication while providing a reliable support for guests. An ocean-inspired color palette reigns supreme, with shades of dramatic blue and green creating a soothing ambience reminiscent of the ocean's depths.

A MOVEABLE ISLAND

To enhance the functionality of the space, we introduced a small and movable island with hidden casters. This provides flexibility and convenience when preparing drinks or socializing. This island provides an additional surface for bartenders and homeowners to craft their signature cocktails with ease.

BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE DESIGN PROCESS

Planning plays a crucial role in ensuring a successful and well-executed outcome. Here's a little peek behind the scenes of this design project.

UNDERSTANDING THE CLIENTS NEEDS

Here's a photo of where we started. Proper planning allows me to fully understand the clients pain points and gather all the necessary information and establish clear objectives for the project.

PREPARING FOR CHALLENGES

Planning enables us to anticipate and address potential challenges before they arise. By creating scaled drawings and elevations, we can identify any structural limitations, plumbing or electrical requirements, or other technical aspects that may impact the design. This allows us to develop strategies and/or alternatives to overcome these obstacles.

EFFICIENT USE OF RESOURCES

Planning helps us identify the required resources, such as materials and surfaces and allocate them effectively. By effectively planning, we can avoid unnecessary expenditures and optimize the use of items that are readily available.

DESIGN CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

Planning provides a foundation for developing a strong design concept. It allows us to explore various design options, create mood boards, and generate creative ideas. By carefully planning and visualizing the design concept, we can ensure that it aligns with the client's vision and creates a harmonious and appealing space.

COORDINATION & COLLABORATION

A design project has many moving parts so planning is essential to effectively coordinate with other professionals involved in the project, such as contractors, engineers and suppliers. It ensures a smooth flow of communication and collaboration, avoiding any misinterpretations or delays. Proper planning helps establish schedules and deadlines, enabling everyone involved to work together harmoniously towards a common goal.

ROADMAP TO COMPLETION

Planning provides a roadmap for the project's timeline and helps us to allocate sufficient time for each phase of the project. By carefully planning and monitoring progress, we can avoid delays and cost overruns.

By investing time and effort in the planning phase, we can set the foundation for a well-executed, aesthetically pleasing, and functional design.
