PROJECT REVEAL: A JEWEL BOX BEDROOM FOR A JEWELRY ARTIST

I'm so excited to share this beautiful jewel box of a bedroom!

That's what happens when your client happens to be an amazing fine jewelry artist. You have to see to believe how amazing and intricate her pieces are! Her fine art jewelry is sold to clients all over the world, has been displayed in the Museum of Arts and Design in NYC and is currently available through the Mingei Museum here is San Diego.

A LOOK BACK TO THE BEGINNING

I love taking a look back to where we started this process. Here's a photo from my first site visit. It was a newly constructed white space.

The armoire was a definite keeper!

REUSE & RENEW

I'm the type of designer that is totally open to updating and reusing my clients existing items, if fact I love it! That's actually how I got my start in the design industry! Here's a photo of the items that she had so that I can take you through our process. Here's a quick Before & After so that you can see how transformative this strategy can be.

Voila! The lovely "After" photo.

THE BED:

The bed was originally light grey. We had it reupholstered in black velvet.

VINTAGE TRIFOLD SCREEN:

My client had this gorgeous screen but the original fabric didn't go with our vibe. We replace the fabric with fabric that she acquired during her travels. We separated the panels and mounted them on the wall so that it feels like a large statement headboard.

THE BEDSIDE LAMPS:

I loved the lamps but not the stark white lampshades. We replaced the lampshades with new black ones with gold metallic on the inside. They put off a sexy warm glow.

THE NIGHTSTANDS:

The white nightstands were a great scale, had a lot of storage and a cute little pull out tray table that my clients loved. We decided to have these repainted in black and added new brass hardware. Scroll back up a few photos to see the before photo again.

MORE IS MORE - THE MAXIMALIST MOTTO

Maximalism is all about the layering. My client's statement jewelry is waaaaay too pretty to store away in a closet or drawer so we used it as part of the decor!

LUXURIOUS LAYERS ON THE BED

Nothing feels more luxurious than sliding into a bed at night that has layers of quality sheets and bedding. Silky textures, ribbon lavender pillows and vibrant bed scarf pull the whole look together.

SEXY SLIPPERS

If I were a pair of slippers, I would look like these ones! I'm obsessed with them. You can also catch a glimpse of the gorgeous over-dyed area rug that we placed under the bed to anchor the space.

Here's a lil' sneak peek of the en suite bathroom. It's not quite ready for it's close up yet - we still have a couple of ideas up our sleeve. That vanity though! My client treasure hunted that baby and it is to die for!
