Orange is one of those colors that people either love or hate. Fortunately, my client and I have never met a color we don't like.
HOW TO MAKE ORANGE WORK IN YOUR HOME - TIP 1: CREATE A COLOR PALETTE
The colors in this space are aegean blue, light grey and orange. The blue and grey colors are cool and the orange felt on the pool table adds warmth to the space. The color palette is bold and balanced.
HOW TO MAKE ORANGE WORK IN YOUR HOME - TIP 2: ANCHOR THE SPACE WITH LARGE SCALE ART
There is a large scale piece of art that anchors this entire space called, "Sometimes You Just Gotta Cry". We were able to pull the colors right out of it to create the color palette for the space.
HOW TO MAKE ORANGE WORK IN YOUR HOME - TIP 3: ADD NEUTRAL COLORS
I painted the ceiling and some of the walls a light neutral grey. We also re-carpeted this space in a silver ash carpet. In addition to that the we added black and white photography and a black and white piece of art to the room. Those neutrals keep the space vibrant but elevated.
HOW TO MAKE ORANGE WORK IN YOUR HOME - TIP 4: ADD WHITE
I incorporated the homeowners existing modern leather swivels to this space to balance out the color.
HOW TO MAKE ORANGE WORK IN YOUR HOME - TIP 5: ADD METALLIC TOUCHES
I added some simple metal martini tables that can be used as side tables or can double as stools. The pool table was decades old and needed to be updated. After re-felting the top in orange, we updated the surround with metallic paint (your local auto paint shop can work miracles!).
