One of the things that I loved about attending KBIS, the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show a few weeks ago is coming home and going through my camera roll of all of the inspiring products that I was able to see. It's so inspiring, too inspiring at times, that you have to take some time to let all that goodness sink in! And speaking of SINKS, I'm going to show you some sexy ones! So without further adieu let's talk about 2019's HOTTEST design trend....mixed metals!
2019 DESIGN TREND - MIXED METALS IN KITCHENS
You know artistry, craftsmanship and attention to detail when you see it. Thompson Traders' products stopped me dead in my tracks! This is a family business, headed up by "Mama Alejandra", the visionary of the company. Her passion for the products that they create is infectious! Whether you are revamping your kitchen or doing a full blown renovation, start your product selection with Thompson Traders. A mixed metal hood, like the one shown above, would make an awesome style statement in any kitchen! You could add in a hammered brass sink. It's the perfect piece to warm up grey kitchen cabinets and add in matte black faucets and cabinet pulls and you are mixing metals like a boss!
2019 DESIGN TREND - MIXED METALS IN BATHS
Bathrooms aren't typically a place we think to take a risk or go trendy but I think that mixing metals is going to be a timeless look. With all of the new metal finishes that we have, I can't imagine ever going back to an all brushed nickel look that used to be so popular. Thompson Traders for the win again in this category! Their latest finish is a black matte copper that had me at "Hellooooooo".
2019 DESIGN TREND - MIXED METALS IN LIGHTING
We can't forget what I consider a magical part of any design....the lighting. Mixed metals are trending in lighting too. Lamps Plus has a great selection of mixed metal lighting that I'm loving right now. Whether you're adding kitchen island pendants or bathroom sconces, go ahead and mix those metals!
You'll notice that one of the key elements throughout these examples is matte black. This trend a gorgeous juxtaposition to shiny metal finishes and helps bring a sense of cohesion when you are mixing metal finishes.
