It's hard to believe but it's already summer break here at the Moriarty residence! I have my 2 kids home for the summer. My son is older and in and out with his activities but my 7 year old daughter, India is here with me full time with no other childcare or day camps scheduled for the next 6 weeks. I had to totally revamp my house to accommodate having here her here all day. We chose a room and switched out Mommy's accessories for accessories that I could repurpose with the new function. Now the house is ready for crafting, painting, coloring and board games.
TIP 1: HOW TO SWITCH OUT ACCESSORIES FOR SUMMER
First, we clear out the room and give it a good old-fashioned cleaning!
TIP 2: HOW TO SWITCH OUT ACCESSORIES FOR SUMMER
Replace all of the large pieces of furniture in the room to your liking.
TIP 3: HOW TO SWITCH OUT ACCESSORIES FOR SUMMER
Repurpose accessories in a new way. I used an antique sugar mold and filled it with art supplies such as colored pencils, colored pens and paint brushes.
TIP 4: HOW TO SWITCH OUT ACCESSORIES FOR SUMMER
Organize paper supplies. I collected all of the art pads from around the house, plus coloring books (the children and adult ones so I could have fun too!) and culled our favorite hardcover books so that India and I read together in the afternoon.
TIP 5: HOW TO SWITCH OUT ACCESSORIES FOR SUMMER
Mix in fresh flowers and plants. I curated everything on our dining room table, mixed in some fresh plants and flowers and the space that we refreshed is bar none my new favorite spot in the house. Luckily there's room for India to share a little corner of her world with me. I taken to working from this little spot since it oozes creativity. In fact, I’m writing this little blog from this spot right now.
