BEHIND THE DESIGN: COLORFUL SAN DIEGO DINING ROOM

When you are designing a home for an abstract artist, skies the limit....I mean it. When I was having trouble finding the perfect dining table for abstract artist, Ann Golumbuk's dining room, we brainstormed and I'm in love with the creative solution that we came up with!

We had a piece of wood custom cut for Ann to use as a canvas. Then, I commissioned her to paint the table top in warm colors to give juxtaposition to the beautiful aegean blue walls. She painted the table with layers of meaningful sayings from her childhood. She grew up as one of 11 children and dinner time was sacred to the patriarch of the family. Everything would stop in their home for dinner time.

Next, I ordered modern custom table bases (strong enough to hold the weight of the table top.....it's HEAVY).

Ann's artwork sings in this dining room against the moody aegean blue walls. Ann looks like part of the art in this space! This is a photo taken by the Madison Parker for Big Reveal Party! I will share more about that in another blog post.

We updated the light fixture, I love how it hovers over the dining table. My interiors photographer, Deb Shields, captured Ann enjoying a cup of coffee in her space....love this photo!

I had so much fun with this space and ordered the most comfortable lemony yellow dining chairs in existence! They are so sculptural - perfect for an artist's home!
