ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 4: SHE SHED PROJECT

Welcome to Week Four of the One Room Challenge!

Progress update time....it's a colorful one!

The She Shed (I feel like she should have a name), got some new color this week! When I originally built the shed, it was for storage purposes only. Every time I would prepare for a project installation, my home would be bursting at the seams with decor accessories. Even though I have a warehouse that receives and stores my larger furniture pieces, I still end up with styling inventory at the house like pillows, textiles, books, trays etc. Quarantine made me rethink the function of the shed. I don't know why it took a pandemic for me to realize that this would be an awesome she shed space but for that I am grateful! It has really given me a space where I can work and focus during the day while the family is inside the house. I really enjoy spending my days in the backyard listening to all of the birds and then closing up shop and heading into the house at the end of the day.

Back to the One Room Challenge Week 4 progress report!

I felt like the there was a disconnect between the interior and the exterior of the she shed. The inside was boho and bold and the exterior had more of a cottage vibe. My husband suggested that we color block the exterior doors. I absolutely love how they turned out! My daughter, India, decided that she wanted in on the action, she did an awesome job! Here are the progress photos...

My husband really came in clutch this week! He cleared the area in front of the she shed, prepped the ground then laid gravel. Back breaking work and it's been really hot so I am super appreciative that he knocked this project out for me this week.

This week I received the final piece of outdoor furniture from the kathy Ireland® Homes & Gardens Madison Ave. 3 Piece Outdoor Collection by TK Classics. Twin Star Home is collaborating with me on this project and are sponsoring the outdoor furniture. They are truly the best! I'm am still waiting to receive the outdoor tasseled umbrella canopy that I ordered as well as the umbrella stand to complete the seating area. I will share that space with you next week. My husband and I have already started using the seating in the evenings with some wine. These club chairs are absolutely the best! Here's a sneak peek of how the front of the shed is coming along. I still need to purchase plants for this area but it's coming along.

Here's my task list for this week:

  1. Purchase plants and pots for exterior of shed.

  2. Purchase hanging macrame plant hangers.

  3. Install plant hangers in front of the shed

  4. Organize and edit more items!

  5. Install additional shelving to the interior.

  6. Paint new shelves.

  7. Find a solution to arrange fabric, tile and wood samples so that they are easily accessible.

In addition to following along, everyone with a blog or Instagram account, is welcome to join the fun as a Guest Participant by linking their own room transformations up during the six weeks. Each Thursday, the internet and social media are flooded with interior design inspiration, ideas, and encouragement.

To date, more than 3,800 rooms have been transformed through the One Room Challenge. The event, and many of the spaces, have been recognized and featured.
