My client hired me to redesign her grandsons bedroom for his birthday....and as a SURPRISE so this had to happen ninja style. She did some recon for me and there were three must-have items on his wish list: Road Signs, American Flags and the San Diego Cityscape at night. WOW! That's an amazing list...now it was time to figure out how to make all of that work together.
ROOM WITH A VIEW
The first thing I did was design a custom wall mural with a view of the San Diego cityscape at night the lights of the Emerald Shapery building reflecting on the bay. The skyline at night has no noticeable flags so we added several to the tops of the buildings. The custom mural was created by a company that I collaborate with called Impact Visual Arts.
A BOLD RUG
I added a sizable area rug to this space as a nod to the American flag. It pulled the whole space together in an impactful way.
MIXING PATTERNS
I love bold pattern on pattern mixing. This bedroom is all about stars and stripes with a little plaid thrown in.
ROAD SIGNS
Street sign wall art and pillow were the finishing touch on the wish list.
We snuck in on a school day right after drop off time and installed the wall mural and added all of the decorative elements to pull the space together.
